Manchester Orchestra-Indie Rock
Manchester Orchestra was formed in 2005 out of Atlanta, Georgia. The reason for their name is simple-The famous city-Manchester, known for its musical history. Andy Hull, guitarist-lead singer-song writer felt extremely alienated in his home town growing up and so he decided to study at home his senior year. Lame you say right? Nah...During that time, Andy also recorded his first full album. Later, Manchester's first EP, Nobody Sings Anymore was recorded but was never actually released. The band said this was due to the shift in the band's musical direction and personal changes with recording. In 2007, they released their album, I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child. This album was what really gained the media and Music industry's attention. In 2008, their second EP was released, Let My Pride Be What's Left Behind. Also in 2008, the band announced their second album, Mean Everything To Nothing. This album included some of their more popular songs such as, "I've Got Friends" and "Shake It Out". In January of 2011, the band announced the release of their third full album, Simple Math and was released officially in May. Manchester Orchestra is currently touring with Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance as part of the 2011 Honda Civic Tour.
