AWOLNATION-Electronic pop/Power pop/Indie pop

It's time to enjoy awesomeness.  Enough said.

AWOLNATION creates a unique blend of Indie, Electronica, Hard rock and Pop with every song and leaves you in amazement. A passion exists with this band that is unlike any other and sucks you in with no hope of ever pushing the stop button.

The band was started when Red Bull Records approached Aaron Bruno and asked him to use their free studio and record for the company. He accepted and began to record. The name AWOLNATION is derived from his own high school nickname and has stuck ever since.

While the band is mostly known for their hit single, "Sail", they released their first full length album, Megalithic Symphony in 2011 and the album took off. The single, "Sail" went platinum in the U.S. and double platinum in Canada and continues to climb the charts as its been used in many different things such as a video on youtube of Jeb Corliss base jumping in a wing-suit. The album itself was released March 15, 2011 right before the band went on tour. The shows usually sell out days before the performances and continue to grow bigger and bigger with every live performance.

Capital Lights-Pop rock/Christian Rock

Here comes some good ol' pop rock for ya. These guys are awesome and their CD's are the kind that I can listen to every song. It's sad that they are no longer active in the business but heres the history:

Capital Lights comes from the band afterEIGHT  which was formed in 2002 by bassist and vocalist, bryson Phillips and guitarist, Brett Admire. The name came from the fact that they both worked at a diner known as Lee's and were allowed to practice there as long as it was "after eight o'clock". Soon, they went with it and the band name was given. Their first album, "Better Late than Never" part of "yeah Siam Records" was released in August of 2006.
In 2007 the band signed with Tooth & Nail Records and in 2008, they changed their name officially to Capital Lights when they toured with popular bands, Hawk Nelson and Run Kid Run.
In July of 2008, they released their first album under the label, "This Is an Outrage!" and shortly after their EP: "Revival of the Fittest EP". "This Is an Outrage!" in my opinion...is by far their best work. This amazing album includes singles like: "Mile Away", "Outrage", and "Let the Little Lady Talk". This whole album is just full of good stuff. Plug in and enjoy.
In August of 2009, the band announced that they were breaking up because God had different plans for each of them but that those plans would be impossible if they continued with the band.

THERE MAY BE SOME LIGHT THOUGH! On Christmas Eve of 2010, Bryson announced on a couple different radio shows that they were no longer an active band but would be releasing one last album on "Tooth & Nail Records". When that album will be released is still unknown. BUT, keep an ear out for them!

This Is an Outrage!" in my opinion...is by far their best work. This amazing album includes singles like: "Mile Away", "Outrage", and "Let the Little Lady Talk". This whole album is just full of good stuff. Here's a couple samples of them and if you really dig it, download the album. For now, Plug in and enjoy.

The Black Keys-Blues Rock/Garage Rock

The Black Keys is an american rock group formed in 2001 out of Akron, Ohio. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney named the band after a schizophrenic they both knew who would leave "incoherent messages" on their answering machines. He would refer to their fathers as  "Black Keys" when he was upset with them.

In 2002, they released their debut album, "The Big Come Up"and later, two singles released as an EP, "Leavin' Trunk" and "She said, She said", both cover songs. In 2008, their single, "breaks" was featured in the motion picture, "RocknRolla" (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE BY THE BY!) In 2003, they released "Thickfreakness" which also featured singles that were used in the popular FX TV show: Sons of Anarchy and others featured in movie soundtracks such as: School of Rock and I Love You, Man.

Their third album, "Rubber Factory" was released in 2004 and featured many popular artists and singles featured in many movies and TV shows. Something cool about this album is that it was in fact, recorded in an old abandoned factory. In addition to this album release, the band also released their first live album, "Live" in Sydney, Australia and opened for many bands during the year including: Pearl Jam, Beck, and Radiohead.

Between the years of 2006 and 2007, the band released a couple EP's including cover songs and other treats. Later, their fourth album, "Magic Potion" was released and as the first album being a part of Nonesuch Records. Many of the singles on this album were again featured in many different movies and TV shows and also, video games. Their fifth album, "Attack and Release" was released in 2008 and included their hit single, "I Got Mine". Shortly after, a collaborative album featuring hip-hop artists such as: Mos Def, Ludacris, RZA, and ODB was released. "Blakroc" was recorded in New York and was one of their favorite accomplishments. Their next album, "Brothers" is probably the one that most people know them for if they are at all familiar with them. "Brothers" was released in 2010 and features their most popular single, "Howlin' For You". This single gained it's popularity from the soundtrack of the motion picture, "Limitless".

In December of 2010, The band was nominated for four Grammy Awards including, Best Rock Song and Best Alternative Album. "Brothers" was also placed at #2 in the Rolling Stones Best Albums of 2010. In addition to this, Spin Magazine nominated them the Best Artist of 2010. They currently work on their new album, "El Camino".

Her Space Holiday-Indietronic

Her Space Holiday is the Indietronic moniker of Marc Bianchi formed in 1996. Marc Bianchi was originally a musician in the California Hardcore scene and was part of the bands: "Indian Summer" and "Mohinder". After Chocolate River Industries contacted Marc in an effort to create the first EP, Marc turned all of his attention to the completion of this EP. After the release of their first EP, Her Space Holiday has relased six other full length albums. Along with these were other EPs, and remixes as well. The album which had the most time in the lime light however, was "XOXO, Panda and The New Kid Revival" released in 2008. The most interesting thing about this album and the thing which set it apart from all the others is that the computer was not used in this album. It is said that he brought a lot more to the table with this album instead of just the usual.

This is one of the coolest band I know because of the unique style they have. I don't think there are many other bands out there like them. One of their more popular singles and my personal favorite from them is "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend."

Living Legends/Eligh-Underground Hip-Hop/Indie-Rap

Living Legends are an underground hip-hop group made up of 8 rappers out of California. According to the bio in Wikipedia, The group is considered by LA Weekly to be "One of the biggest success stories of the Indie-Rap movement...having sold close to 300,000 units of their various solo and group efforts-all-by-them-d***-selves." (exact quote. Please excuse the language.) The Living Legends crew originally started with the Mystik Journeymen. In 1994 they began to really gain their popularity. Most of this popularity came from their own hard work with selling tapes on the street and holding and performing shows in East Oakland. In 1995, Mystik Journeymen which was comprised of artists, BFAP or "Brother from another Plant" or also, Sunspot Jonz, and PSC-Pushin Suckas Conscious, also known now as LuckyIAM, met up with The Grouch. With this new duo, they performed in several funded tours until 1996 when they met 3 Melancholy Gypsies out of Los Angeles. The three bands soon after formed Living Legends. Since the formation, the crew also includes artists: Bicasso, Aesop, and Arata.

Living Legends discography is huge. One of the sickest things about them is that they have done SO MUCH. There's so much to listen to. Check it out friends...HERE'S. THE. LIST.

Eligh, a songwriter, record producer and artist is a member of the band and has done some of his own stuff. Basically, he's a baller and that's why I'm including him in this profile. Eligh's music is straight hood. You will absolutely love it. He has a few albums. But, my favorite is definitely his latest: "Grey Crow". Some sick tracks are, "Angel of Death", "When I'm a Dad", and "Shine".

The Republic of Wolves-Indie rock/Alternative rock

The Republic of Wolves is a band formed by Mason Maggio and Christian Van Deurs out of Long Island, New York soon after the completion of the album, Grandfather which was part of their previous band, Tigers on Trains. Soon after the completion, they started experimenting with a much different, heavier and more dynamic style of music with their friends, Billy Duprey, and Chris Wall. With this experimentation, The Republic of Wolves was formed.

I have to admit that I'm kind of biased towards these guys mainly because of their main influences which are, Taking Back Sunday, Straylight run, As Tall As Lions and my all time favorite, BRAND NEW. Something kind of cool and interesting is the fact that the reason they are known for being influenced by Brand New is because some of their music was posted on youtube and MISTAKEN FOR BRAND NEW!  They were actually posted as Brand New songs and fans were confused.

In November of 2010, the band released their first full-length debut album, "Varuna". The cd was actually self-released by the band while the vinyl was in fact released by Simple Stereo.Their EPs include: "His Old Branches"(2009) and "The Cartographer" (2011). Their most famous and best (In my opinion and the opinion of most fans I find...) is "Oarsman".

If you guys love Brand New you will definitely DIG The Republic of Wolves.

Metric- Post-Punk Revival

Metric was formed in Toronto, Canada and has also has been based in Montreal, London, New York and Los Angeles. It is made up of Lead singer, and guitarist, Emily Haines, guitarist James Shaw, bassist Josh Winstead and Joules Scott-Key. Metric's lead vocalist, Emily Haines is a dual citizen of Canada and India. Emily's father, Paul, was a poet and would have Emily listen to rare and eclectic music which became her early influences. James Shaw began his musical instruction in Boston music school and moved later to Juliard music school in New York City. After moving to Montreal, Shaw met Haines and they began. Haines and Shaw decided to call this "partnership" Metric  in 1999. Their first debut album, Grow Up and Blow Away was released in 2001 and contained hit singles such as: "Grow Up and Blow Away" and "Soft Rock Star". In 2001, Joules and Josh joined to complete the crew. In 2003, Metric's first full album, Old World Underground was released and eventually went gold in Canada. Just two years after the release of their first, Metric released their second full album, Live it out... and much like their other records, was very well received. In 2008, Metric toured all over and played many different shows throughout even 2009. Soon after, their fourth album, Fantasies was released featuring ten tracks. If any of you know of Metric, it is probably from their single, "Black Sheep" featured in the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World." Another well known single, "Help I'm Alive" is also featured.

SOME COOL FACTS:
Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park of their single "Gold Guns Girls". Metric also came together with many other artists during the 2010 Winter Olympics to make a remix of the popular song, "Wavin' Flag" by K'Naan. This remix was made to benefit Haiti as part of the "Young Artists For Haiti".

M83-New Wave Pop/Ambient/Indie

M83 was started in 2001 by French musician, Anthony Gonzalez and also former artist Nicholas Formageau in France. They released their first self-titled debut album in 2001 but were really recognized after the release of their second full length album in 2003: "Dead Cities, Red Seas and Lost Ghosts."  Shortly after the tour of Dead Cities... Nicholas left the band and Anthony took it back to the studio. In January 2005, The third album: Before the Dawn Heals Us was released. Along with this release came the remixes of many other songs including "The Pioneers" by Bloc Party. After recording a collection of Ambient works, the fourth album, Digital Shades Vol. 1 was released with the help of Antoine Gaillet. M83's fifth full album, Saturdays= Youth was released in 2008 and is by far the most structured. The theme of Saturdays according to Antoine, is mainly inspiration from 80's music. In an interview according to Wikipedia, Gonzalez said, "I think that 80's music is such a brilliant period in music history. It was the occasion for me to do a tribute to 80's music, but also a tribute to my teenage years because the main theme of the album is being a teenager, and being a teenager means a lot to me."...

Four of M83's most popular singles were released in this album as well. Two of these are "colours" and "We Own The Sky". An AWESOME fact (In my opinion people!) is that M83 also supported Kings of Leon on their UK tour. Along with them, they also toured with The Killers. M83 is LEGIT people.

Recently, in 2011 Gonzalez started working on, as Wiki says, "A new batch of songs". According to Gonzalez, the new songs will be "darker and very, very, very, EPIC." His newest album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming was released in July and features popular single "Midnight City".

Guys, as a side note...If you know me or have read my Bio you know I'm a shredder. SO, to sum this band up...it makes for some SICK shredding tunes. SO download their shiz, plug in your ipod, iphone or whatever, and blast M83 on the slopes.

Radical Face-Folk/Indie

Radical Face was formed by Ben Cooper from Florida. The name comes from the simple fact that he "thought it was kind of funny". Many wonder why the name is what it is. There is really no special reason. Ben's first release was "Ghost" and in 2010, his first EP, Touch The Sky was released with just 6 tracks. In October of 2011, the first full album Roots was released and was followed by his second EP in August of 2011 titled: Branches and Leaves. Radical Face's hit single, "Welcome Home" is featured in Ghost and is by far the most well-known and dynamic track.

Radical Face will give you some chill music to just kick back and enjoy on any cloudy day when the best thing to do is throw on a hoodie and your favorite slip ons. IT'S. JUST. CHILL. PEOPLE. 8)

Middle Class Rut-Alternative/Hard Rock

Middle Class Rut was formed in 2006 out of Sacramento, CA. It is comprised of artists Zach Lopez and Sean Stockham. The Fall of 2007 marked Middle Class Rut's first full tour. Their hit single, "New Low" was voted "Top Song" by a few different radio stations including KWOD. A comparison was once made for them saying they combine sounds like those of Jane's Addiction and Rage Against the Machine. After opening for many bands like Social Distortion and Alice in Chains, throughout 2009, they released their full length album, No Name No Color in November of 2010. Since then, they have opened for Chevelle who are avid fans of Middle Class Rut  and also bands like My Chemical Romance and more recently, 30 Seconds to Mars.

These guys are awesome and the video is one of the coolest I've seen. Check it out and see for yourself!
